Current Information:Age-30 Born-Tooting At the beginning of 1915, 3rd Division were holding a section of the line south of Ypres. 4th Royal Fusiliers, 9 Brigade, when not in the line were in billets in Locre (Loker). On 24th January they moved back into the front line for a 4 day tour. The battalion diary records this period as being “quiet” despite the fact that nine men were killed during this time. Sniper activity resulted in several casualties on 26th January, whilst German action on 27th January in celebration of the Kaiser’s birthday resulted in “a good many casualties”. |
